Mecoladder was founded in 1981 as a manufacturer of aluminium ladders, was formed into a close corporation in 1985 and has been owner-managed ever since.
In 1991 we moved from rented premises to our own purpose –built factory on a 2500m2 plot next to Cape Town International Airport.
We supply the industrial, agricultural and household markets with various access products and some years ago we added aluminium scaffolding towers to our range.
A good test of a product’s durability are the equipment hire and fruit picking ladder markets and our products have proven themselves in these areas over many years.
We are continuously upgrading our products and developing new ones and are currently in the process of streamlining and automating our production lines.
Our products have been exported to various parts of the world including Southern and Central Africa, UK, Middle East and the Pacific Region. They have also been used in places such as Antarctica (to build South Africa’s ultra-modern SANAE IV Antarctic base) and on Tristan da Cunha (the remotest inhabited island in the world).Recently they were used in the construction of the new Cape Town Stadium.
